Time: 18:00 - 19:30 Location: SONNENSTEIN LOFT Price: 10€ No registration required This workshop invites participants into the ongoing artistic research process of the Onomatopoeia WAVES Project, exploring how sensory experiences can be translated into movement. Together, we will investigate how we perceive different textures through our senses and how these perceptions can be transformed into drawings, words, sounds, and eventually movement. Rather than learning a fixed dance technique, participants are invited to join an open artistic research process that values curiosity, experimentation, and personal interpretation. Throughout the workshop, we will explore how language, memory, and cultural background shape our perception and expression. The session concludes with the creation of short movement compositions and a collective reflection on the diversity of embodied experiences. Onomatopoeia WAVES is an ongoing artistic research project that explores the process through which perceived textures are translated into embodied expression. Afterwards Q&A / Exchange with the artists. --- Yusuke Miya (b. 1998, Niigata, Japan) is a Japanese dancer, choreographer, and art project planner. He studied dance at the University of Tsukuba and its graduate school. He has received numerous awards, including the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award at AJDF-Kobe (five times), the Best New Artist Award at Yokohama Dance Collection 2022 Competition II, First Prize (Solo Division) at SAI DANCE FESTIVAL 2023, the New Artist Award from the Elsur Foundation, the Kyoto Prize and Audience Award at KYOTO CHOREOGRAPHY AWARD 2024, and the Architanz Artist Support Award at Yokohama Dance Collection 2025 Competition I. His artistic practice explores the relationship between language, sensory perception, and movement through artistic research. Working across theatre, community engagement, and interdisciplinary collaboration, he creates participatory performances that investigate how embodied experiences emerge through the translation of perception into expression.
