Creative Camp "Fantastic Beasts" in Linz for children aged 8-12 years
Fantastic Beasts is a project for children with migration or refugee experiences, inspired by Ukrainian painter Maria Prymachenko. It aims to educate children about artists who processed their struggles through art and offer therapeutic benefits by helping children express and process emotions. The project includes workshops in Ukraine and Austria for displaced Ukrainian children, as well as research and feedback labs to develop a common methodology. It brings together mental health, art, and culture work professionals. The approach is inspired by Prymachenko's method of depicting "fantastic beasts" to cope with difficulties, and it is based upon art therapy techniques that help children process traumatic experiences. The project is realized in partnership between organizations Studio Fugu (AT), Point of Ukraine (AT) and NGO Molotok (UA).
The camp in Linz is organized with kind support from RedSapata Kulturinitiative.
