on April 1st, 5 - 8 pm at Sonnenstein Loft, Linz-Urfahr

Join our workshop: Statue Theatre for Civil Courage – Inspired by Augusto Boal

Immerse yourself in the world of theatre, which can do more than just entertain - it can change and move! We are devoting ourselves to statue theatre , a powerful method from Augusto Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed .

Our goal? To create an expressive performance for the "Symposium of Civil Courage 2024" on April 5th in the Jägermayrhof, Linz .

Is this workshop for you?

If you have already gained some experience on stage or in similar creative fields and want to get involved in social issues such as civil courage, then you have come to the right place. We are looking for people who not only love theater, but are also willing to engage with social issues.

What you can expect:

  • Insight into the Statue Theatre: Learn all about the origins and significance of this method.
  • Techniques and exercises: Under the guidance of Bernadette Stiebitzhofer, you will learn how to create "statues" that tell stories and convey messages.
  • Working together on a performance: You and the other participants will work on a performance that we want to present at the symposium.
  • Time for reflection: In addition to practice, we also discuss the role of theatre in society and how it can be used as a tool for change.

Workshop details:

  • When? April 1, 2024
  • Time: 5 - 8 pm
  • Where? Sonnenstein Straße 11 - 13, 4040 Linz | 4th floor
  • Costs: freely chosen contribution
  • Workshop leader: Bernadette Stiebitzhofer, MA BA (theatre educator, human rights educator, social worker, social economist)

You should bring:

Some experience in theater or another creative field as well as the willingness to deal with the topic of civil courage artistically and intensively.

Here's how you can join:

Since we want to work in an intensive and creative atmosphere, the number of participants is limited. So secure your place quickly! You can register here: https://www.cognitoforms.com/RedSapataTanzfabrik/RegistrationWorkshopStatuentheater

We can hardly wait to work with you to create a performance that will not only impress the audience at the symposium, but will also inspire thought.
