Residency Artist in February 2023 INGE GAPPMAIER: "NOW" (working title)
https://ingegappmaier.at/
NOW is an installative dance performance that reflects the cultivation of emotions in our society. Fundamental to this is the aesthetic-philosophical examination of the moment of now as the starting point of lived reality in contrast to a technicized or externalized understanding of time. The moment of now is not understood and staged as a fleeting moment on a linear time trajectory, but as a constantly present, open space of possibilities. In a spacious room with islands of platforms, five dancers form a moving landscape. As "intelligent bodies", they explore their own physical logics. Solos and duets accumulate into spatially recreated stills of iconic political images or a rave, overlaid with touching poetic solos. The audience is invited to move freely through NOW themselves. NOW focuses on the concrete experience of the here and now, as well as discuss concepts of the perception of time/our time.
