“Stubborn lead” by Simona Štangová & Voland Székely

is a performance that unveils differences in human character and elaborates the components of human beings' drive and their actions towards a goal, mission or dream and the process of approaching an object of "desire" within its transparency and obscurity in one. This journey of divergence and completeness of human behavior reflects on the inaccuracy of what one perceives and is encoded with. How perception of the world and our surroundings is limited and formed by external and internal realm. The body, mind, DNA and external impacts that form one's perception are partly subjective elements of what we see and understand. How do we really know what is reality out of what we perceive from outside …? What is the role of ego in our actions and how much does ego affect our decisions? Is it just a stubborn ego or rational and emotional decision? The audience/participants are offered with space to observe their own character´s representation of actions towards their aims and their understanding of what they perceive from others behavior and action. In other words, what is happening on the outside and inside within their personal given and learned codes. Political-social interest of this piece is how society defines the character of a leader and how knowledge and experiences might not be sufficient enough to predict the actions of a person in power. What intention has one towards the aim and what importance we put on the intention of the person? Is the acknowledgment of one's intention necessary  and what is the accuracy of the acknowledgment ?

Concept, choreography, dance: Simona Štangová

Music, composition: Voland Szekely

“To Chopin's Sisters” by Aleksandra Krzekotowska

The solo “To Chopin's Sisters” is an attempt to reflect on women's lives in the shadow of a genius. They would have been very happy, but the point here is not to show that they suffered from Chopin's fame. It is about the social situation of a woman whose life scenario was pre-programmed. What would the sisters have said and done if they were still alive?

Researching the sisters' lives, the love they felt and nurtured for him, and their lives shaped by society made me think: What would have happened to them if they

would have lived in the 21st century?

The life of the Chopin sisters is the starting point of the project. All three sisters, Ludwika, Izabela and Emilia, were very talented, but their lives were culturally shaped by the customs and zeitgeist of the society of the time.  Emilia, the youngest, was ill and died at the age of 15. Lively and spirited, she never really wanted to fully accept Fryderyk's genius and his position in the family and the world. Both Fryderyk and Emilia had great literary talent and wrote plays together. Izabella was the most humble of the 4 siblings, and spent her life involved in charity for the poor. She was interested in literature and wrote two books for children. Disinterested and generous, Izabella renounced Fryderyk's inheritance, but was the main source of information about the life of the Chopin family.  Ludwika, the eldest, was very talented and enthusiastic about music and literature from a young age. She was the closest to Fryderyk, and as an older sister, she supported him emotionally and financially. She taught little Fryderyk to play the piano, influencing the rapid development of his talent. She herself composed beautiful mazurkas, but unfortunately her compositions have not survived. After Fryderyk's death, Ludwika, in the ruffles of her dress, smuggled his heart from Paris to Warsaw, to the Holy Cross Basilica, where it rests today. The life of Fryderyk Chopin, his bilingualism, his flight from Poland to Paris, his life far from his occupied homeland, and his genius sparked my artistic interest.

Concept, choreography, performance: Aleksandra Krzekotowska

Music:  Fryderyk Chopin, Nocturne No. 20 in C sharp minor

Fryderyk Chopin, Fantaisie Impromptu in C sharp minor, Op. 66: Allegro Agitato, Hania Rani - F Major
