SCHÄXPIR 2023 – WHERE MAGIC RULES From June 14th to 24th, 2023, Linz will once again become a metropolis of theater art for young audiences! Since its founding in 2002, SCHÄXPIR has grown into an established player in European children's and youth theater and is setting standards again this season. The biennial festival is starting for the 12th time and is sure to be *magical*. Times like these require special narrative styles. Fortune telling, i.e. divination, card reading, immersive theater, which gives visitors very direct, even tangible theater experiences and allows them to become part of this magical world called theater. In terms of the program, this means: There are many exciting and innovative theater formats that deal with the issues facing young people today. Classic coming-of-age stories are revisited and common narratives are questioned. This time too, the focus will be on participatory formats that appeal across generations to babies, children and young people from 6 months old and adults up to old age. The mix of international plays, Austrian productions and those from our regional partners make up the artistically high-quality program, which is flanked by offers such as theater education, nightline and supporting program.
