February 2023: INGE GAPPMAIER

17:00 (time to be confirmed)

Open rehearsal / studio showing

INGE GAPPMAIERborn in 1988, grew up in Adlwang (OÖ), works as a freelance choreographer, dancer, dance pedagog and dance scientist with a base in Vienna. In her work she examines the contemporary self-understanding of the human body between poetry and socio-political structures. She is particularly interested in (connecting) lines and logics in their ambivalence, location, displacement and dissolution. Her artistic research is articulated between the fields of dance, performance and installation.

About the residency research:

NOW is an installative dance performance that reflects the cultivation of emotions in our society. Fundamental to this is the aesthetic-philosophical examination of the moment of now as the starting point of lived reality in contrast to a technicized or externalized understanding of time. The moment of now is not understood and staged as a fleeting moment on a linear time trajectory, but as a constantly present, open space of possibilities. In a spacious room with islands of platforms, five dancers form a moving landscape. As "intelligent bodies", they explore their own physical logics. Solos and duets accumulate into spatially recreated stills of iconic political images or a rave, overlaid with touching poetic solos. The audience is invited to move freely through NOW themselves. NOW focuses on the concrete experience of the here and now, as well as discuss concepts of the perception of time/our time.
